PeaceHealth’s, Dr. David Ruiz, honored by Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber for work in Latino Health

Dr. David Ruiz, medical director of PeaceHealth Family Medicine, has been recognized by the Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber for his work with the Latino community.

Dr. Ruiz is a recipient of the Bravo Award which celebrates individuals who contribute to the Latino community both nationally and locally. He was recognized during a Hispanic Heritage Celebration on Friday, Sept. 6.

As a bilingual physician, Dr. David Ruiz is better able to serve his Latino patients. He grew up in Tucson, Arizona and was part of the first youth mariachi group in the U.S. Dr. Ruiz moved to the northwest in 1994 when he joined PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. He is the founder of the Family Medicine Residency program at Family Medicine of Southwest Washington where he has served as director for over 25 years.

Dr. Ruiz is a big proponent of young Latinos seeking careers in healthcare.
